From Spear to Plasma Gun: Weapon Crafting Systems in Survival RPGs Explained

In a weapon crafting survival game, your arsenal usually climbs a ladder: improvised weapons first, then real guns, then gear built from rare parts. Tomorrow: MMO Nuclear Quest, a post-apocalyptic survival RPG for mobile, adds a second axis on top of that ladder. Each weapon has a Blueprint with levels from 1 to 10, so the same Revolver can deal 2050 damage or 6150 depending on how far you've pushed it. The numbers below come from the game's balance data, from Blueprint costs to damage at max level.

A survivor with a spear runs through tall grass between ruined buildings.

Weapon tiers: melee, ranged and improvised tools

Tomorrow's arsenal starts with a spear and ends with a Plasma Gun. Last Day on Earth: Survival, for comparison, advertises hundreds of recipes and blueprints. Grouped loosely, Tomorrow's weapons look like this:

  • Improvised melee: spear, poison spear, bone club, mailbox hammer, scrap bat
  • Other melee: machete, samurai sword, claws, power gloves with plasma damage
  • Ranged, from simple to modern: slingshot, blowgun with poisoned darts, bow, crossbow, primitive pistol and rifle, pistol, revolver, assault rifle
  • Heavy and special: nail gun, screw gun, flare gun, Saw Blade Cannon, Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Gun

Throwables sit beside them: regular, toxic and freeze grenades, the bear bomb, the Plasma Grenade, the Plasma Mine and the Turbo Molotov.

Weapons deal conventional, bullet, plasma or explosive damage. Some add poison or cold. Defense against conventional, bullet, plasma and explosion damage stops at 99%. Poison and radiation defense can reach 100%.

Tools and first unlocks

Gathering tools have tiers of their own. The list starts with a rock, then the hatchet and pickaxe. Metal versions of both come later.

Weapon unlocks are partly scripted. A machete is available from the start. At level 19 you get the scrap bat. The primitive pistol and junk armor follow at around level 27.

Crafting materials and where to find them

Crafting in Tomorrow draws on two sources: materials you gather and Blueprints that unlock and level items. The materials come from survival game resource gathering on the maps:

  • wood and stone
  • ores such as iron, copper, lead, sulfur and uranium
  • parts like wrenches, springs and plastic
  • plasma components such as Plasma Cells, Plasma Cores and Igniters

Ore nodes give a single resource each since the April 2026 update. Quarry's big iron node gives 40 iron ore, its medium one 20. The big copper node on the Supermarket map went from 10 to 35 copper ore in the same update. Infested Farm's big iron node gives 50.

Parts drop more often on certain maps. Sewage Plant drops more plastic than before. Solace Springs and Construction Site were changed to drop more wrenches.

Blueprints and Knowledge Points (KP) come from stashes on the maps, not from enemies. KP also comes from books. Each map has its own Blueprint drop weight:

MapBlueprint drop weight
Green Woods0.15
Quarry0.4
Infested Farm0.5

Tip

Infested Farm has more than three times the Blueprint weight of Green Woods. The design notes say it was set that way to pull endgame players to the Farm.

Balancing progression: early-game vs late-game weapons

Crafting progression in a mobile RPG like Tomorrow runs on two levers, rarity and Blueprint level.

In the mobile RPG crafting system of Tomorrow, every Blueprint has a rarity. Unlocking it costs KP. Raising it to level 10 takes duplicate Blueprints plus more KP. Higher levels raise the item's stats. The table shows the totals:

RarityKP to unlockDuplicates to level 10KP to level 10Design multiplier, level 10 vs level 1
Common53001,500x2
Uncommon152503,750x2 to x2.3
Rare302006,000x2.3 to x2.7
Epic10512513,125x3
Legendary75012593,750x3.25

KP is where the cost climbs. A legendary Blueprint needs about seven times the KP of an epic one to max out, with the same number of duplicates. Once a Blueprint reaches level 10, further duplicates turn into KP automatically.

A legendary Blueprint needs about seven times the KP of an epic one to max out.

A November 2025 change moved the Revolver from epic to legendary, the claws from legendary to epic and the universal tool from epic to rare.

The highest character level is 60. Past level 50 the chance of finding Blueprints goes up, which speeds up collecting duplicates.

Weapon crafting in Tomorrow: a closer look

Tomorrow weapons were rebalanced in April 2026, when weapon damage went up across the board. Four weapons show the range between base stats and a maxed Blueprint:

  • Revolver: 2050 damage at base, 6150 at max Blueprint level, with recoil cut by 20%
  • Saw Blade Cannon: 2000 at base, 6000 at max
  • Power Gloves: 2000 plasma damage at base, 5000 at max
  • Grenade Launcher: 800 conventional damage at base, 1200 at max, with the blast radius cut from 18 to 14

These weapons don't match the rarity table's totals exactly. The Revolver and the Saw Blade Cannon end at three times their base damage. Power Gloves reach two and a half times, the Grenade Launcher one and a half.

Explosives also lose damage with distance. They deal full damage in the inner half of their range, 80% between half and three quarters of it, 50% in the outer quarter. Before April 2026 the outer two bands were 50% and 25%. In the same update, enemies on Burlington got lower explosive defense.

In June 2026 the Freeze Grenade's direct cold effect went from 55 to 50, while the cold zone it leaves went from 25 to 50, ticking every two seconds.

Crafting rules worth knowing

The Energy Weapon Forge and the Pyrotechnics Station arrived with the April 2026 update, together with the Plasma Gun, Plasma Grenade, Plasma Mine, Rocket Launcher and Turbo Molotov.

Weapons have durability. For the Grenade Launcher it went from 55 to 64 in a 2026 balance pass. Since the June 2026 update, broken gear can't be used as an ingredient in a recipe.

Since April 2026, items that go missing can be recovered from the shop's storage after reconnecting.

Tips for efficient resource gathering

Each map in Tomorrow is good for different materials. These are the routes the April 2026 numbers point to:

  1. Go to Quarry for iron, lead and sulfur. Its medium nodes were raised to 20 ore each in April 2026.
  2. Use Infested Farm for iron and sulfur. Its big iron node gives 50 ore, the highest figure in that update's ore table.
  3. Head to the Supermarket map for copper. Its big copper node gives 35.
  4. Visit Sewage Plant when you're short on plastic.
  5. Farm Solace Springs or Construction Site for wrenches.
  6. Open stashes on every run. That's where Blueprints and KP come from.

Tip

When you die, the death stash keeps only 20% of the loot from that run. Weigh that before taking a full inventory into a harder area.

Pick one target weapon at a time. Leveling a Blueprint needs both duplicates and KP, so spreading KP across many weapons slows all of them down. Push the weapon you use most, then let the rest catch up from automatic KP conversion once it's maxed.
